Tomorrow, the NFL season kicks off. One of the most powerful women in sports will be missing from the ownership room again this year. Kim Pegula, age 55, suffered a cardiac event in June of 2022. Since June of 2022, Jessica (her daughter) explained, “She is dealing with significant expressive aphasia and significant memory issues.”

Just a few months ago, Terry Pegula made the difficult decision to remove Kim as co-owner of all of the Pegula properties including the Buffalo Sabres because she remains incapacitated and there is little hope that she will return to be the vibrant leader she was before the medical incident.

The Athletic reported a few months ago that a judge has named Terry Pegula the “plenary guardian” of Kim and the bulk of her assets have placed in a trust with Terry as one of the co-trustees.

She has visited the team’s practice a few times, but sat in the car each time. This year, she visited the practice and this time she exited the vehicle and was able to join the team in their post-practice breakdown.
