Children Education Insurance
Your child’s education and future opportunities should not be limited by your income loss due to a disability.
Consider the statistics:
- The average cost of the Top 100 Colleges in the USA is over $50,000 per year
- 78 percent of graduates have debt of at least $100,000
- Almost 3 in 10 of today’s 20-year-olds will become disabled before reaching age 67.1
- Every 90 seconds someone files for bankruptcy in the wake of a serious illness.2
- More than 10% of U.S. households have offspring—adult children included—with special needs.
Family ValueGuard benefits supplement your existing disability coverage to provide the extra money needed to keep your child in daycare, pay education tuition, or the additional costs associated with a special needs child.
Higher Education Case Study: A parent with two children became disabled and was no longer able to contribute to his children’s education fund. Following a 365 day elimination period, the policy provided a lump sum benefit of $400,000 to a trust for the benefit of the children’s education costs. This allowed both children to attend a top 4-year college with no burdensome student debt.
Special Needs Case Study: A parent with a child who has cerebral palsy became disabled and was no longer able to pay for immediate therapy and treatments needed for the child. Following a 90 day elimination period, the policy provided a monthly benefit of $3,000 to care for the immediate costs related to the illnesses. After 9 months, the policy provided a lump sum benefit of $300,000. This allowed the child to continue these much needed treatments.
Lifestyle And Opportunity Case Study: A parent with one child in day care and another in private school became disabled and could not afford these costs. After a 90 day elimination period, the policy provided a monthly benefit of $2,500 for 9 months and then provided a lump sum of $500,000 to cover future education needs. The parent avoided being forced to obtain a loan for these payments. Family ValueGuard along with an individual disability policy provided full family protection.
A disability no longer needs to jeopardize the future opportunities and educational needs of your children. Family ValueGuard provides the extra money to pay for family needs that traditional individual and/or Group Long Term Disability policies are not able to provide.
The Family ValueGuard policy has the ability to adjust with your family’s care and educational needs. A lump sum from $100,000 to $500,000 is available after an elimination period of 365 days to provide funds for the long term education or maintenance needs. A supplemental short term benefit is available following a 90 day elimination period with a 9 month benefit period to cover immediate needs and expenses. The amount available is between $1,000 to $5,000 per month.
